The Future is Now: P4 Medicine's Healthcare Impact Today

Wednesday, September 18, 2013 (3:30 PM - 7:00 PM)

P4 (Personalized, Predictive, Preventative and Participatory) medicine has moved from theory to practice.  The revolution in DNA sequencing technologies has made it possible to determine the genome sequences of many individuals and this has enabled major advances in both the diagnosis and treatment of multiple diseases.  This symposium will present several examples of P4 applications to inherited medical genomics, cancer genomics and pharmacogenomics.  In addition, this symposium will illustrate how biotech companies are involved in these advances.  Dr. Leroy Hood, recent recipient of the National Medal of Science, will discuss how P4 Medicine creates advances in medical care today and will shape the future.
