Ultrasound technology was developed at the University of Washington in the 1960s.  The technology was spun out of the UW and has been the foundation of numerous successful companies in the region.  Join us to hear from local executives who have helped to grow Seattle into a hub of ultrasound innovation as they highlight the Past, Present and Future of diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasound.

  • History - Don Baker, ultrasound pioneer at the University of Washington and founder of ATL, will give us a very special insight into the history of ultrasound and his involvement in its development over the years.

  • State of the Art - Larry Crum, Ph.D., Founding Director, Center for Industrial and Medical Ultrasound; Founder, UST, will give an overview of the current state of ultrasound. We’ll also hear from medical ultrasound executives from Mobisante Inc., Philips Ultrasound, EKOS Corporation, UWAMIT, PhysioSonics, Mirabilis Medica, Inc., and SonoSite, Inc., providing the insiders’ view of today's ultrasound technology. These executives will also be participating in panel discussions with audience participation.

  • Future - Professor Matt O'Donnell, Ph.D., Dean of Engineering at the University of Washington, will take us on a trip into the future to see what we can expect from ultrasound technology.
